Katie Ingram has been working in the mental health field since 2007 and providing psychotherapy in Florida since 2016. Her experience spans clinical counseling, play therapy, trauma treatment, and working with people whose jobs and life circumstances don’t always fit neatly into a textbook. She brings a practical, straightforward approach to her work, along with the belief that good therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or overly clinical.
Katie works with children ages 5 and older, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, anger, behavioral challenges, abuse, trauma, PTSD, and other difficult life experiences. Her approach is integrative, meaning she doesn’t believe in using the same playbook for everyone. Instead, she draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, cognitive processing therapy, motivational interviewing, and brief solution-focused therapy. She also considers psychological, behavioral, and spiritual perspectives based on each person’s individual needs and preferences.
As a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™, Katie especially enjoys helping children express themselves through play therapy. Kids don’t always have the words to explain what’s happening in their world, and that’s okay. Play gives them opportunities to communicate, process experiences, and develop skills in ways that feel natural to them.
Supporting Veterans, Military Families & First Responders
Katie has extensive experience working with veterans and first responders, providing care that recognizes the unique cultures, expectations, and stressors that often come with military service and public safety careers.
She is a STAR Behavioral Health Provider and holds the TRICARE Provider Readiness Designation, reflecting her specialized preparation to support military-connected individuals and families. Katie is also a Certified Emergency Responder and Public Safety Clinician (NERPSC).
Her familiarity with the VA and its processes allows her to help veterans and their families navigate care, benefits, and treatment systems while addressing concerns such as trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and adjustment challenges. She understands that asking for help isn’t always easy, especially when you’re accustomed to being the person everyone else counts on.
Additional Qualifications & Services
Katie is a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns and Registered Clinical Social Worker Interns in Florida, helping emerging clinicians develop their skills, confidence, and professional judgment as they work toward licensure.
She also serves as a Guardian ad Litem in Palm Beach County’s 15th Judicial Circuit and is certified to conduct Juvenile Competency Evaluations in the State of Florida.
Outside the Office
When she’s not working, Katie enjoys paddleboarding, gardening, pickleball, kayaking, racquetball, reading, and fantasy football. Apparently, even her downtime comes with a little friendly competition.
A Personal Note from Katie Ingram
Therapy with me is a mix of curiosity, honesty, compassion, and—when the moment calls for it—humor. I believe there’s room for laughter even when we’re working through hard things. Sometimes you need a safe place to unpack what’s going on; sometimes you need someone to diplomatically 😉 point out that you’ve been unpacking the same box for a while.
I pay attention to what you need in the moment. I won’t rush you into places you’re not ready to go, but I also won’t sit quietly on the sidelines when I see you getting in your own way. I’ll ask questions, notice patterns, challenge you when it’s useful, and celebrate the progress that can be surprisingly easy to overlook.
Above all, I want you to feel comfortable being yourself with me—no need to have the right words, the perfect explanation, or your life neatly organized before you walk through the door. We can figure it out together.
