Lourdes Alcaniz
Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern
Lourdes Alcaniz is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern who works with adults and older adults navigating anxiety, mood concerns, eating disorders, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the effects of trauma. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and is committed to providing culturally responsive and emotionally attuned care.
Lourdes approaches counseling from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective, creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and respected. Her clinical work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed practices, with an emphasis on emotional regulation, self-awareness, and practical coping skills tailored to each individual’s needs.
With a background in health communication, Lourdes brings strong listening skills, curiosity, and thoughtful presence into the therapeutic relationship. She values collaboration and believes meaningful change occurs when clients feel supported while developing insight and tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and resilience.
Lourdes welcomes adults from diverse cultural backgrounds and is dedicated to ethical practice, ongoing learning, and high-quality supervision as she completes her clinical training.
Outside of her clinical work, Lourdes maintains a daily meditation practice and is completing a two-year training as a mindfulness meditation teacher, which informs her grounded, attentive approach to therapy.
